Voting begins for November YouPerform Contest! Vote today!

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we were pleased to see that we had five entrants to November’s contest, our second edition of our YouPerform video contest. Not only did we get five entrants this time, but we were happy to see that we have performers from all over the world including South Africa, too! Performing our brand new Musicnotes Editions arrangement of a Christmas medley, which was November’s free sheet music download of the month, watch and vote for your favorite video.

How to Rate Contest Performances

As we mentioned last time, there are two ways to rate a performer’s video for our contest. The first way would be to login to YouTube! and visit Musicnotes.com’s YouPerform Contest Group for November. Five contest entries have been approved for viewing in our November contest group and are now open to the public for rating.

The second way to rate the contest entries, is to watch each video below and rate their performance. We hope that you will rate these contest entries and comment on the performances below. Remember, these videos can be watched either on YouTube! or on our blog.

If you are considering adding your contest entry for December, remember that this month’s free sheet music download is a Nutcracker Medley, so break out your musical skills and get practicing!

The guitarist is not playing the guitar guru arrangement, whats the point of that?

Thanks for your question! Based on a contest entrant’s question last month, we made a decision to allow alternate arrangements as long as they were based on the song offered as the free download.

Guitarists can certainly use the Guitar Guru arrangement if they wish, but they are not required to play it note for note to be eligible for the contest.

I used the main sheetmusic download (in F) and played melody up one octave to put it at the top of the chords printed on that main version. I’m more of a “notes and staff” than a tabs kinda guy, and tend to forget to get the guitar guru versions.

    gary “the guitarist” you referenced

Monica thanks for the clarification, I see the light.

Gary, as you were, your legal and just too tricky for me :)

Joe, I think your allowed to use your voice as an instrument and I think that’s what D is doing and just using the guitar as a back up.

Performer E, Loved the introduction, way to play it so well, I think it sounds better that way, PS the end going up to the high notes was great!

I did not like the first performer on guitar
the second one on the piano i thought was super for so young a player – the songs flowed together
the third one was just ok – do not the modern programed
    pianos
the fourth one was bad – the piano player needs much more practice – songs did not flow together – there were breaks between each song and there was no ending to the last song
