Sheet Music for Bring Him Home Santa

The Christmas song, “Bring Him Home Santa,” has truly had its journey. Written by Rory Feek and Tim Johnson, this song is written from a child’s perspective, asking Santa to bring home their dad safe and sound from military duty.

Part of what makes this Christmas song unique, is how the song has evolved. The songwriter, Rory Feek, has offered an online diary tracking the history of the song from 2006 forward. You can read the song’s diary to follow the history of how it had evolved. This particular entry showed us a little bit about how the songwriting process for “Bring Him Home Santa” had started:

By the time I got there, Tim had already started on the song. He said, “You’ve got to get down here right now” (we were writing in the basement that day due to lack of room) and he played me the opening lines “Dear Santa… I need to change my Christmas list… There’s one big thing I missed”, which I of course loved. He envisioned the song starting as a letter to Santa and the idea of a child missing his or her Daddy at Christmas time. He and I both believe in the ‘magic’ of songs… that they themselves have a story to tell. And sometimes although as a songwriter you might have an idea of what you want to say or where you want the song to go… if it’s a really great song… it will lead you.–SOURCE: Diary Entry from Bring Him Home Santa!

We were very excited to read about how this song came about, because it really does speak to one of our mantras, “Every song truly has a story!”

Bella’s Lullaby from Twilight is coming to Musicnotes.com in December 2008

We have been overwhelmed with requests for this particular song from the movie Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer’s book series.

As we mentioned in a breaking update on our post entitled, “Twilight Soundtrack and Sheet Music for Twilight Playlist,” we have received confirmation from the publisher that we will receive the folio (i.e. the hard copy or printed sheet music for the song) within the next two weeks. We are expecting to offer the digital sheet music for Bella’s Lullaby by the end of December, provided all goes well with the publisher.

Additionally, there have been other, numerous requests for songs like Decode from the band Paramore as well. We are following up on these song requests, and will provide you with more news once we receive more communication from the song publishers regarding licensing.

Thank you for reading today’s Whole Note, we hope you will enjoy a fabulous weekend!
