Did you know that April 22, 2009 is Earth Day? According to the U.S. Government site for Earth Day, “Earth Day is a time to celebrate gains we have made and create new visions to accelerate environmental progress. Earth Day is a time to unite around new actions. Earth Day and every day is a time to act to protect our planet.”

First celebrated in the early 1970s, Earth Day offers everyone the chance to learn a little bit about what’s going on with the environment around them. The EPA site offers a history of Earth Day where you can read facts about how this holiday has evolved.
