Christmas Movie Soundtrack Playlist for Monday Melodies

Posted on Dec 15, 2008 by Monica.

We are so glad that you enjoyed our first Christmas music playlist, so we created another one for you. Today, we bring you Christmas music from several Christmas movie soundtracks including: Bad Santa, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Scrooged, Elf, Santa Clause 2, Christmas with the Kranks and more!

Did you know that many of the same, popular Christmas songs are played in different soundtracks? Or that non-Christmas carols and even rock music are sometimes used to accentuate different parts in the movie, like in Jack Frost? While researching the Christmas movies for this post, we even found that some soundtracks were either one hundred percent original (i.e. composed just for that movie), a mixture of new compositions and old, or just renditions of other classical pieces. You’ll hear a few classical pieces in this Christmas movie playlist from Tchaikovsky; his music has appeared in Bad Santa, Prancer Returns, Nutcracker and A Christmas Story. (And those were just the holiday films we were researching!

You’ll also notice that there are more than a few songs that are geared for kids. In this christmas soundtrack playlist, enjoy songs from The Muppet Christmas Carol and the John Denver and The Muppets: A Christmas Together holiday special, right along with A Charlie Brown Christmas and the ever-popular Polar Express, too.

Thanks for tuning in today for our Monday Melodies! Watch for a post listing several of the Christmas movies we have sheet music for later this week!

Free Music Playlist – UK Bands in Today’s Monday Melodies

Posted on Nov 17, 2008 by Monica.

Muse. The Verve. Kasabian. For decades, UK bands have influenced and shaped the face of rock-n-roll by giving us songs that surpass any country’s musical borders.

In today’s Monday Melodies free playlist, we’re happy to bring you memorable music from UK bands. Many of these songs incorporate piano, guitar and drums to create more of an acoustic feel to them. Tonight by Hard-Fi, Sunburn by Muse and (of course) many of Coldplay’s songs are great examples this concept. In Sunburn, for example, the song begins with a series of piano arpeggios, vocals and drums. As the vocalist continues, more and more instruments are added to intensify the effect of the lyrics to create a distinct sound.

Although we’ve featured songs from thirty-five UK bands in this Monday’s free playlist, we have sheet music for a lot more UK bands on Musicnotes.com than you might think. We hope you enjoy listening to this week’s Monday Melodies playlist as we take you over to the UK for some great tunes. Feel free to chime in and let us know what songs you enjoy.

Have a wonderful Monday, and thanks for listening!
